I recently saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End!

It was a great movie! It wasn’t as great as the first one (The Curse of the Black Pearl), but it was better than the second (Dead Man’s Chest).
Captain Jack Sparrow’s just as funny in this movie as he was in the other two! There’s always been something about Jack that I’ve enjoyed watching. In fact, he’s officially at the top of my list of favorite fictional characters.

I think one of the things I like about Jack is the hiliarous stuff he says! Some of my favorite Jack phrases would be:

“Did no one come to save me just because they missed me?”

Pirate: “You’re supposed to be dead.”
Jack Sparrow: “Am I not?”

“I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.””

The story is by far the most complex of the three, but that’s what makes it good. Everyone is backstabbing everyone, everyone is cutting deals with everyone, and sub-plots around. There are a few items that you have to put together yourself, and watching the second movie before seeing the third will help unravel some of it. For instance, why is Barbossa brought back from the dead? Because the “only” way to defeat Davey Jones is to unleash Calypso, a goddess that was imprisoned in an earthly body by the original meeting of the pirate lords…of which Barbossa is one…which is why they needed him. But that isn’t really splet outright…you have to actually follow the dialogue on this one. Don’t feel like bringing your brain to the movies? Stay home and watch Indian Idol … lol

The action scenes are excellent, with one of the best ship-to-ship battles I’ve seen. And the ending was done perfectly…without giving too much away, let’s just say that they throw a twist in and totally leave it open for another installment…although I think that from an artistic view it would be best to leave it at this one and not try to force the story to a 4th installment.

Definately a 5 star movie…I didn’t find it to be too long, all the story arcs ended nicely, and seriously… whats say !!!

“Dead Man’s Chest” (to use the “Pirates” sequel’s subtitle) is the summer’s most anticipated film, and it gives fans what they want

The film picks up more or less where the first one left off.
Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) have their wedding interrupted by a British kinda cop (Tom Hollander), who blackmails Will into retrieving a magic compass owned by Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

The film is far too long. It takes ages to get going and there are long stretches in the first half where nothing is happening and the comedy isn’t working at all. In addition, the plot is needlessly confusing and poorly thought-out in places.

It’s also fair to say that the film suffers a little from being the second part of a planned trilogy.

Worth seeing?

Not quite as good as the first film, but it pulls it all together for a thoroughly enjoyable final act.
